This page provides information on Telemetry for the V-Ray for Blender Improvement Program.


Overview

The V-Ray improvement program is based on telemetry. It allows Chaos to track general V-Ray usage statistics. The type of information that will be collected includes some parameter values that people use most often, which will allow Chaos to optimize and improve V-Ray's performance. No personal identifiable information, scenes, assets, or materials will be collected.

The The collected data is sent when Blender is closed, and is stored locally in text files. The files can be found in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ChaosGroupChaos\telemetry. The collected data is viewable with files can be viewed in a text editor.

Activate the Feedback program using the Telemetry checkboxes, available at the last step The Feedback program is activated at the end of the V-Ray installation. You can choose whether you would like to share Anonymized or Personalized telemetry. No intelligence property is violated. Chaos does not gather scenes, assets, materials, etc.

Anonymized Telemetry – Includes the most used product functionality and/or parameter values. The data is not personally identifiable and is not tied to the user's individual account.

Personalized Telemetry – Includes the most used product functionality and parameter values but also contains personally identifiable information tied to an individual user's license. This helps Chaos tailor and optimize the product for better personal use.

The Feedback program settings can be changed at any time in Blender after installing V-Ray.

These options can be accessed through the Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > V-Ray For Blender > Usage statistics.

You can choose to disable or select a different type of telemetry collection.
