Installing V-Ray

The V-Ray installer for Maya is pretty straightforward and easy to follow and can be downloaded from the V-Ray | Maya Downloads section of the Chaos Group website (please make sure you use your login credentials to ensure access to the download links). It's recommended that before installing V-Ray, to make sure your computer meets the System Requirements for running Maya with V-Ray. Licensing V-Ray

Once V-Ray is installed you will want to make sure that your V-Ray license is properly configured. The Set Up Your V-Ray License page includes everything you need to get V-Ray licensed and running properly. If you need more help on configuring your set up as a Render Server/Node or Distributed Rendering, please check the appropriate pages.

 

Loading V-Ray Plug-in

In order to use V-Ray, you must first enable it in the Plug-in Manager. You can do this by going to Window > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager and clicking the Loaded checkbox to load it manually. If you want V-Ray to be automatically loaded every time Maya starts you should check the Auto load box.

  1. Open the Rendering Settings window. 
  2. Click on the Render Using drop-down menu and select V-Ray from the list of available renders.
