Since V-Ray 6, update 1 the Portable installation replaces the .zip builds. See the Portable installation page for more.

Make sure to always have the latest Cinema 4D updates for V-Ray to load.

Overview

Installing V-Ray for Cinema 4D from a .zip file provides the advantage of easy setup and flexible folder management.

When installing V-Ray for Cinema 4D from a .zip file, note that Chaos Cosmos is not included by default in the installation. To add it, you can separately download and install it

Note also that the EULA is not automatically accepted when installing from a .zip file. A window pops up, when V-Ray is first initiated in Cinema, which prompts you to accept the End User License Agreement.

Unpack the .zip file to a directory of your choice.

Select

Cut or copy the V-Ray folder

and cut or copy it

Paste it to the Maxon's plugins folder.
For Windows, by default, it is located in C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D Rxx\plugins.

For macOS, by default, it is located in /Aplications/Maxon Cinema 4D RXX/plugins.

You are all set and ready to start Cinema 4D, where V-Ray is automatically loaded.
