This page provides information on V-Ray's integration with Houdini’s Solaris.

Overview

Solaris is a set of look development, layout and lighting tools provided by Houdini for creation of USD-based scene graphs. It is integrated with USD’s HYDRA Imaging Framework to access renderers such as V-Ray. Thus, through V-Ray and Solaris, you can create a wide range of assets and then render them.

The settings for geometry, materials, lights, etc. that V-Ray provides for working with Solaris LOP nodes appear as tabs in the ||stage|| network and are basically the same settings as those in V-Ray’s geometry, material, light, etc. nodes.

Please note that the V-Ray Hydra delegate is activated for V-Ray 5 builds for Houdini versions greater than 18.5.462*, on Windows and Linux only. OSX support is coming at a later stage. If possible, please use the latest Houdini production build.
