Migrate (or Reset) your anima® PRO license

Every license in anima® is linked to your computer's Hardware ID. So, the cleaner way to migrate a license to a new computer is by first removing it from the computer where it currently is being used and then activating it on the new one.

However, notice that it is not necessary to remove the license from the old machines if you won't start anima® on those machines anymore. That means that if the computer breaks or it is reformated or anything similar that doesn't give you the option to clear the license, then don't worry because you can simply activate the license on the new computer right away and just forget about clearing step.

But, if you will be using anima® on both computers (older and newer), then yes, you must clear the license on the old one to avoid license issues.

You can do that by clearing your license from anima® (also known as applying a Reset to the license). This process will remove the link between that license and the Hardware ID (also known as System Code) of that computer in our servers and, from then on, that computer will run anima® in the LITE mode, that is, without a license.

The reset of a license can only be done once every day and a total of 3 time per year.

To migrate the license to a different computer,  please follow the steps below:

  1. Open anima® with a user account that has administrator privileges. The admin privileges are needed to access and modify the registry, where the license information is stored. You can do that from a normal user account with a right-click on the anima® icon that you may have on the Windows Desktop or at the Windows Start Menu and selecting "Run as administrator".
  2. Make sure you have an active internet connection throughout this process and that you have your registration information available.
  3. Go to Main Menu > License.


4. The licensing window will open, displaying your Hardware ID, your current license number, and your registered email.


5. By clicking the Clear button, you will detach the license from the current computer and remove the System Code (Hardware ID) linked to this license.

6. A second window will appear asking for confirmation and explaining that if you proceed you will unlink the license from the current computer.

7. By clicking Yes you will clear the license, and unlock it, to be used by a different computer.

From here on you are free to activate your license again on another computer with a different System Code.


Migrate your anima® Render Node license

You can also follow a very similar migration process in your anima® Render Nodes.

  1. Starting from an already licensed node, like this one below, click on the CLEAR button:


2. You will be asked to confirm that you actually want to use one of your available RESETS for this license:


3. Then you will be shown a list of all the Render Node licenses available on your account, some of them might be "already used" by other machines and some not. You can choose here whatever license you want.

4. If it is free then you will be able to click the "USE LICENSE" button below and use it right away, and if it is "already used" then the button below will let you RESET it, and then it will automatically Activate that license on your current machine.
