Overview

Having a floating license and instant access to the entire metropoly® library has a lot of possibilities and the potential to radically transform the user workflow, but there are some drawbacks that must be taken into account to correctly value if it will fit nicely in your particular workflow. So please, make sure to carefully read and understand the special requirements that are tied to the Subscription license.

Internet Connection Needed

The subscription will work only if an internet connection is present in the machine where it has been installed. There are multiple reasons for that:

  • The models are automatically downloaded on demand.
  • The subscription license is verified periodically to update its state.
  • The floating license between devices is managed by our servers, so anima® needs to be able to communicate with them.

ANIMA® Native Format Only

For security reasons, the Subscription License grants access only to the native anima® format, which means that you will be able to use the assets from our library only if you are using anima® ALL or any of the native anima® plugins.

We have invested a lot of effort in the development of our plugins throughout all these years. We firmly believe that being able to manage the native anima® scenes directly is a win for both, our users and us because it lets us offer more functionalities, better performance, and greater content while keeping an extra layer of security to verify the ownership of the products.

No Modifications To Subscription Models

The assets used by the ALL version are protected internally, so you won't be able to modify them in any way as you can do with the actors that you purchase directly from our website.

For example, most of our actors include at least 5 color variations (except the 4D models), if you need to add a new color variation to fit a client request, or customize the texture used in the outfit with some kind of logo or pattern, you won't be able to do that using anima® ALL. Also, if you need to change the height of the model, it won't be possible when using anima® ALL because this kind of modification must be done by changing the original *.y file that is downloaded from our servers, and that is not possible on subscription assets for security reasons.

No Export Options For Subscription Models

For security reasons, with anima® ALL is not possible to export to FBX, Collada, or VrScene when subscription models are present in a scene. Therefore, the subscription models can only be imported into other 3D applications by using the official anima® plugins for 3ds Max®, Cinema 4D®, Maya®, and Unreal Engine®.

This extra security layer is necessary to verify that each model belongs to the client's account and also to check the status of that subscription (keep in mind that the subscription content is rented for a limited period of time). It has been designed to operate in a completely transparent way and with maximum efficiency, so the users won't even notice that it is there.

Also, please notice that this security layer forces that the use of anima® ALL is only possible with 3D applications that are supported by the anima® plugins (which excludes applications such as Blender®, Sketchup®, Rhino®, Revit®, Lumion®, Houdini®, Unity®, Modo®, etc.).

The export limitation only applies to the subscription models, so if a scene is created with anima® ALL but only contains default demo actors or purchased actors from your account, then you can export those scenes without any problem, just as you can do it with the anima® PRO version. In other words, it is still possible to export animated scenes from anima® ALL to FBX, Collada, or VrScene, as long as those scenes only contain demo or purchased models (Rigged, Ambient, and Posed, not 4D models), but it is not possible to export scenes that include any type of subscription models.
