This page provides information on how to uninstall Corona for C4D.

Overview

The installer automatically updates Corona to the newer version if it detects an older version. If you need to manually uninstall Corona, please make sure that Cinema4D or Corona components, such as the Corona Image Editor, are not being used. For silent uninstallation, see How to perform silent installation and uninstallation at the Chaos Help Center.

Uninstalling Corona for C4D for Windows Users

The uninstaller originally resides in the following location:

  • C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for Cinema 4D\Uninstaller

Running RemoveCoronaForC4D.exe starts the Corona uninstaller. Click OK to proceed with the uninstallation or cancel to quit the uninstaller.

You can also use the Windows "Add or remove programs" utility to uninstall Corona.

Command Line Parameters

ParameterDescription
-h or --helpDisplays command line help.
-n or --noGuiRuns the uninstallation in console mode with no user input (no confirmation prompt). In this mode, the uninstaller is not able to delete itself so C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Uninstaller\RemoveCoronaForMax.exe is left on disk after the uninstallation is finished.

Console mode may not work as expected when run directly from the Windows command line console. In such a case, the console will not wait for the uninstaller to finish and will display a new prompt. It will also capture and accept user input while the uninstaller is running and printing into the console.

Solution: The issue will not appear when using a .bat file or any other script, which is the intended use case. In this case, the script correctly waits for the uninstaller to finish before proceeding.

Uninstalling Corona for C4D for Mac Users

To uninstall on a Mac, use the following steps:

  1. Download the remove script from here.
  2. Save the script file onto your local drive. (it could be in Desktop or any other folder)
  3. Run the script using the Terminal app on your Mac.
  4. The Terminal will ask for your Mac user password; please type it and hit the Enter key.
  5. Wait for the process to be completed, and then close it.

Troubleshooting

If for any reason, you're not able to run the script due to OS permission restrictions, please do the following steps to allow the system to run the script:

  1. Open the Terminal app from the Mac Utilities folder and use the Terminal commands to navigate to the folder path where the script file is located.

To navigate to the folder where the script is located, use the command "cd" to move between folders.
(Don't forget to use the commands without the quotes)
For example, if we've placed the file in the Desktop folder, then we need to type "cd Desktop" (without the quotes) and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

  2. Once you're in the same folder where the script is located, please type the following commands (one by one) and hit the Enter key to set the correct permissions for the script:

    chmod 755 remove_corona.command
    chmod +x remove_corona.command
  3. Close the Terminal, double-click the remove_corona.command file to execute it and follow the instructions in the Terminal app.
  4. If the OS does not allow running script files using double click, then right-click on the script file and choose "Open With" > "Other" > "Terminal" from the Utilities folder.
