This page provides a tutorial for using the DMM plugin for Maya with Chaos Phoenix simulations.

Steps


  1. Create the DMM objects.

  2. From the asset manager, select the DMM Object Node, and turn on the Start Splintered option. Without this option, Phoenix FD will be unable to calculate properly the velocity of the objects when they start to break.

  3. Create PhoenixFDSimulator and PhoenixFDSource as usual.

  4. Make sure that only the outputSurfaceShape of the objects is visible. Alternatively, select this shape manually in the Scene Interaction rollout and disable the Exclude List.

  5. Tweak the discharge parameters and modifiers of the PhoenixFDSource to achieve the desired effect when breaking.

  6. Start the simulation.
