Steps to Report a Problem

If you encounter any crashes, a VRay.dmp file might be very useful for our Support Team as it contains information that helps troubleshooting and fixing the issue.

Below you can find detailed steps on where to find the needed file or how to generate it.

Collecting the VRay.dmp file when Cinema 4D Report is Available

When Cinema 4D crashes, a Plugin Error window pops up. It shows where the Bug Report is contained.

Collecting the VRay.dmp file when Cinema 4D Report is not Available

Sometimes Cinema 4D freezes/crashes without showing the Bug Report Window. In that case, you can generate a report file yourself. See below how to generate a VRay.dmp file.

  1. Open the Windows Task Manager from the Start Menu. Make sure Cinema 4D is still running
  2. Right-click on the Cinema 4D application in the Processes tab. Select the Create dump file option.

3. The crash dump file is created in the Temp folder.

  1. Open the Activity Monitor.
  2. Select the Cinema 4D application from the Process Name list and go to the System Diagnostics Options button. Select the Spindump option.

3. A pop up window appears prompting you to select name and folder for the Spindump file. When ready, click Save.
