Overview


The following tools and utilities come installed with V-Ray for SketchUp. For more information about each tool, see its individual page.

 

Rendering Tools and Utilities


The V-Ray Standalone tool is a command-line rendering tool supporting V-Ray's native .vrscene file format.
Location (Windows): Start Menu\Programs\Chaos Group\V-Ray for SketchUp\V-Ray standalone command prompt
Location (Mac OS): /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/V-Ray\ for\ SketchUp/extension/vrayappsdk/bin/vray.bin

This is a command-line utility that can be used to convert .vrimg image files to .exr files in OpenEXR format.

A command-line utility that can be used to denoise still images or animations outside of SketchUp. This can be especially useful for animated sequences because the standalone tool can look at multiple frames at once and produce a better denoising result.

A command-line utility that lists V-Ray plugins and detailed description for them.

GI Tools and Utilities


The irradiance map viewer can be used to view, merge and save irradiance map files created by V-Ray.

 

Texture Tools and Utilities


The VRImg to OpenEXR converter is both a command-line utility and a simple GUI application that can be used to convert .vrimg image files to .exr files in OpenEXR format.

 

Geometry Tools and Utilities


This page provides information on the OBJ GEO PLY to .vrmesh converter (ply2vrmesh standalone tool).

The V-Ray mesh viewer is a simple tool that allows you to preview V-Ray mesh and alembic files.

 

Misc


V-Ray for SketchUp on macOS contains a config file that can be used to set environment variables specifically for it.

Its location is:

/Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/V-Ray\ for\ SketchUp/extensions/config.json

If multiple variables are written, they need to be separated by commas.
