This page provides information on uninstalling V-Ray for Maya.

Overview


The V-Ray installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions before installing a newer version. If you need to manually uninstall V-Ray, please make sure that 3ds Max or V-Ray components are not being used. For silent uninstallation, see the Silent Install and Uninstall page. 

 

Uninstalling V-Ray


The Uninstaller originally resides in the following location - C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 20xx\uninstall

To access the V-Ray uninstaller from the Start menu, search for Uninstall V-Ray 3ds Max 20xx.



 

This will start the V-Ray uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove V-Ray from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.

 

After the uninstall is complete, there may be some leftover files that you need to delete. Please check if the following files and folders are present and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya20xx\vray

C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Maya 20xx for x64

Uninstalling the License Server

To remove the Chaos License Server, either use the Add/Remove Programs applet from the Control Panel or select Windows Start > All Programs > Chaos License Server > Uninstall Chaos License Server.

Uninstalling the Plug-In

V-Ray installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions.

If you need to manually uninstall V-Ray, make sure that Maya or V-Ray components are not being used. Double-click the uninstaller.app program, which is normally located in /Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya20xx -x64/uninstall

This will start the V-Ray uninstaller. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove V-Ray from your system and restore any files overwritten by the installation.

After the uninstall is complete there may be some leftover files that you need to delete.

Please check if present and delete the following files and folders:

/Applications/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya20xx-x64/

/Applications/Autodesk/maya20xx/vray/

Uninstalling the License Server

To uninstall the Chaos License Server, open the uninstaller directory in Finder, which by default is /Applications/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/ and double-click the uninstaller application. Choose the Chaos License Server program from the list of programs to uninstall and click the Uninstall button to remove it.

 

 

 

Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.

 

Linux


Uninstalling the Plug-In

V-Ray installer will automatically uninstall any previous versions.

To uninstall V-Ray for Maya, start with root permissions the uninstaller program, which is normally located in the /usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya 20xx -x64/uninstall/ directory, for example:

$ su
$ /usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya2018-x64/uninstall/uninstaller
follow the instructions of the uninstaller
$ exit

Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.

You may need to manually delete the folders:

/usr/autodesk/maya20xx-x64/vray/

/usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya20xx-x64/

Uninstalling the License Server

To uninstall the Chaos License Server on Linux, start with root permissions the uninstall program, which is normally located in the /usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/ directory:

$ su
$ /usr/ChaosGroup/VRLService/OLS/uninstall/uninstaller 
follow the instructions of the uninstaller
$ exit

Note: The uninstaller will not remove the V-Ray license configuration files or any other files that you have modified manually after the installation.
