This series of video tutorials guide you through the process of building an interior design, shading, lighting, rendering with V-Ray for Cinema 4D and more!

Part 1: Modeling the scene

In this first video, Nejc Kilar, 3D Artist at Chaos, walks you through the modeling stage, setting context for the rest of the videos to come and getting you familiar with the scene he’ll be working with. Plus, he also gives some useful tips and tricks that you can apply right away.

Part 2: Lighting the scene

It’s time to turn V-Ray on and start lighting the scene. In this video, Nejc Kilar, 3D Artist at Chaos, shows you two different techniques that you can use to do that — setting up an HDRI lighting, and using V-Ray's physically accurate sun and sky system. He also demonstrates how you can experiment with your lighting right from the V-Ray Frame Buffer, adjusting the exposure, white balance and applying color corrections using curves.

Part 3: Introducing the wall and floor materials

Part 3 of this series is all about developing the look of the scene by introducing some basic materials. Nejc walks you through the process of creating the wall and floor materials, using the V-Ray Node Material. In the upcoming videos, we’ll also cover the Classic Material workflow.

Watch this video to learn how to create realistic, freshly painted walls as well as tile and terrazzo floors. Follow along to get familiar with the parameters you can tweak to get the result you’re after, plus learn how to add surface imperfections for extra realism using Normal Maps.

Part 4: Creating a stone wall using displacement

In this tutorial, we continue developing the look of the scene by adding elements such as symmetry and texture to the composition. Watch as Nejc shows you how you can create a realistic stone wall effect using V-Ray Displacement. You will also learn about adjusting the geometry, displacement and quality settings, and more.

Part 5: Adding Chaos Cosmos assets to the scene

In this video, Nejc shows you how you can easily bring your scenes to life using Chaos Cosmos. You’ll learn how to import 3D assets with just a few clicks and how you can edit them as needed to fit your needs. Plus, you’ll also get some useful tips and tricks on using the Chaos Cosmos Browser like a pro, working with lighting 3D models, editing assets, and more.

Part 6: Creating a realistic curtain material

Learn how to create your own, realistic curtain materials in V-Ray 5 for Cinema 4D. In this video, Nejc shows how you can set up the material by tweaking the diffuse, reflection, refraction, sheen parameters, and more. Plus, he gives tips on how to speed up your workflow and optimize your scene for performance.

Part 7: Creating a realistic carpet

Watch this video to learn how to create a carpet using V-Ray Fur. Nejc shows you how to set up the geometry and the V-Ray Fur object, gets you familiar with the basic, as well as the more advanced parameters, demonstrates how you can tweak them to achieve a realistic look, and teaches you how to create a carpet material. Plus, he shares some more advanced workflows for experimenting with custom patterns and animating your V-Ray Fur objects.

Part 8: Fine-tuning the lighting

In this tutorial, you will learn how you can fine-tune the lighting of your scene. Nejc shows you a couple of easy techniques that you can use to achieve the look you’re after. This includes setting up additional lights, using V-Ray’s Light Mix to tweak the color and intensity of your lights even after you’ve rendered, and more.
