Overview

This page provides information about what is included in the Chaos Anima subscription service and the limitations you should consider before purchasing the product.

What's included?

  • All Anima Library

Using a single subscription you will have access to the complete library of people and vehicles from Chaos Anima. And not just the current content, this includes future content, too.

Our library grows every month. But you already know that, right? We have been releasing new models every month since we pioneered the making of stock 3D models of real scanned people almost 2 decades ago (2008).

The assets from the library can be dropped into your scenes both using the Anima Designer standalone application or using the Anima Drop panel directly inside the DCC applications. When dropped, the assets are downloaded into a local folder (the "Purchases" folder defined in the Anima Preferences), which is used as a sort of local cache to avoid downloading multiple times the same assets.

NOTE: The library cannot be downloaded from the website, it is only compatible with Chaos Anima and plugins.

  • Chaos Anima License

You get a license to use the Chaos Anima software, which is the simplest and fastest population tool developed especially to quickly and easily create stunning 3D animations that fill your virtual scene in very little time, humanizing it, and bringing in the key senses of scale and context.

  • Floating Licenses All Your Devices

Each Chaos Anima license can be used any number of devices, but in a non concurrently way (that is, only one at a time). For example, with using the Chaos Cloud-Based Floating license, you can use Anima in your workstation at the office, then go on a meeting with a client and use it on your laptop, and then go home and start applying modifications right away using your home PC. The license will float seamlessly from one device to the next one as long as it is used on one unique device at a time (more details in the Chaos License Quick Start Guide).

  • All The Anima Plugins

You will have native support for Chaos Anima on your main DCC application using our Anima plugins for:

    • 3ds Max
    • Cinema 4D
    • Unreal Engine

That will let you synchronize your simulations using our Alive connection with a single click, import multiple scenes from your Anima project, drop models directly from your library with the Quick Drop panel, adapt the shaders to your preferred Render Engine, and much more!

NOTE: Please notice that the software and plugins are only available for Windows OS. More details in the article: System Requirements.

  • Render Capabilities

It is possible to install and use Anima in Render Node mode for free, without any kind of license management. Also, any device where the subscription has been successfully activated at least once, can be used to render jobs submitted from a Render Manager (Deadlne, Pulze, Team Render, etc.) without requireing a license. This later alternative is useful when using the same machine to create new content or edit scenes (license required), and also for participating in a render pool (no license required).

  • Constant Maintenance And Updates

We are constantly working on Chaos Anima, adding new features, and improving the user experience. The subscription gives you the benefit of getting all the new updates as soon as they are released, without even having to think about it.

  • Annual Full Version Upgrades

Apart from the hotfix updates, you will also get access to all the completely new yearly versions that include the most groundbreaking new features and technologies that we keep developing year after year.

Service Requirements

Having a floating license and instant access to the whole Chaos Anima library has a lot of possibilities and the potential to radically transform the user workflow, but there are some drawbacks that must be taken into account to correctly value if it will fit nicely in your workflow. So please, make sure to carefully read and understand the special requirements that are tied to the Chaos Anima subscription service.

  • Internet Connection Needed

Chaos Anima needs an active internet connection in the machine where it has been installed. There are multiple reasons for that:

    • The license is verified periodically to update its state, so both Anima Designer and the Anima Plugins need to keep an open communication channel with the license servers.
    • The assets are automatically downloaded on demand, either when dropping them from the library or when opening a scene that includes assets that have not yet been downloaded before. Once the assets are downloaded once, they are kept in a local library folder ("Purchases"), which is used as a sort of cache and can be shared between all the devices using the same license account (through a network shared folder).

  • Anima Native Format Only

For security reasons, Chaos Anima provides access to the assets from the library only in the native Anima format. This means that you can use the assets from the library only through Chaos Anima software and plugins.

We have invested a lot of effort in the development of our plugins throughout all these years. We firmly believe that being able to manage the native Anima scenes directly is a win for both, our users and us, because it allows us offer more functionalities, better performance, and greater content while keeping an extra layer of security to verify the ownership of the products.

  • Limited Modifications To Assets

The assets used by Chaos Anima version are protected internally and it is not possible to modify them in any way from the DCC applications. However, it is possible to modify some of the assets using the tools available inside Chaos Anima.

For example, most of our actors include at least 5 color variations (all the people actors except the 4D models). Using the Edit Mode in Chaos Anima, it is possible to modify some types of actors (Rigged, Posed and Ambient) and add new color variations or customize the texture used in the outfit with some kind of logo or pattern. It is also possible to modify the height of the model, or the metadata tags linked to it.

  • No Export Options For Subscription Models

With Chaos Anima is not possible to export the models to standard formats (FBX, Collada). Therefore, the models from the Anima library can only be used in DCC applications compatible with the Anima plugins: 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, and Unreal Engine. Therefore, it is not possible to use Chaos Anima with applications such as Blender, Sketchup, Rhino, Revit, Lumion, Houdini, Unity, Modo, etc.

This extra security layer is necessary to verify that each model belongs to the client's account and also to check the status of that subscription (keep in mind that the subscription content is rented for a limited period of time). It has been designed to operate in a completely transparent way and with maximum efficiency, so the users won't even notice that it is there.
