This page details how to run a technical check when first launching Chaos Arena.
Overview
Prior to launching Arena for the first time, we recommend running a technical check to make sure everything works as expected.
GPU Setup
- Check that each render machine is using NVIDIA drivers (537.42) or newer. Latest drives are recommended.
- Enable V-Sync (NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D settings > Vertical sync).
- Set up Quadro Sync timing server and clients (NVIDIA Control Panel > Synchronize Displays).
Color Management Setup
For HDR output (recommended):
- Enable HDR in Windows (Display Settings > Use HDR). This is optional, and it depends on the LED processors, as they usually have their own options.
- Enable HDR in the LED processors, if needed (possible options are HDR/HDR10 format, PQ/ST2084 transfer function/gamma/EOTF, Rec.2020/Rec.2100/BT.2020/BT.2100 color space/gamut).
For normal SDR sRGB output:
- Disable HDR in Windows (Display Settings > Use HDR).
- Set up sRGB input in the LED processors (Rec.709/BT.709/sRGB color space/gamut, sRGB transfer function).
Permissions
Start “arena_server.exe” and “vantage.exe” on each node to check that everything works as expected. Watch for the following things which might result in slow/endless Vantage startup times:
- Windows permission pop-ups for starting the software (allow execution if needed)
- Windows security pop-ups
- Windows Defender/other antivirus pop-ups (Win Defender constantly scanning, etc.)
- Firewall pop-ups (add rules if needed)
