This page provides information on how to uninstall Corona.

Overview

The installer automatically updates Corona to the newer version if it detects an older version. If you need to manually uninstall Corona, please make sure that 3ds Max or Corona components, such as the Corona Image Editor, are not being used.

Uninstalling Corona

The Uninstaller originally resides in the following location - C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Uninstaller

Running RemoveCoronaForMax.exe starts the Corona uninstaller. Click OK to proceed with the uninstallation or Cancel to quit the uninstaller.

You can also use the Windows "Add or remove programs" utility to uninstall Corona.

Command Line Parameters

ParameterDescription
-h or --helpDisplays command line help.
-n or --noGuiRuns the uninstallation in console mode with no user input (no confirmation prompt). In this mode, the uninstaller is not able to delete itself so C:\Program Files\Corona\Corona Renderer for 3ds Max\Uninstaller\RemoveCoronaForMax.exe is left on disk after the uninstallation is finished.

Console mode may not work as expected when run directly from the Windows command line console. In such a case, the console will not wait for the uninstaller to finish and will display a new prompt. It will also capture and accept user input while the uninstaller is running and printing into the console.

Solution: The issue will not appear when using a .bat file or any other script, which is the intended use case. In this case, the script correctly waits for the uninstaller to finish before proceeding.

Leftover Files

After the uninstallation is complete, there may be some leftover files that you need to delete manually. Please check if the following folders are present and delete them:

  • %programfiles%\Corona
  • %localappdata%\Autodesk\3dsMax\20xx - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\corona
  • %programfiles%\Autodesk\3ds Max 2024\Plugins\ (Delete only corona-related files from here if present)
