This page provides information about the Lights tab in Chaos Envision.
Overview
The Lights tab provides searchable lists of all lights in the scene, grouped by type:
| A subtab for all lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all rectangular lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all disk lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all sphere lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all omni lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all mesh lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for all IES lights in the scene. |
| A filter tab for spotlights in the scene. |
Actions with Lights
| Search lights – Searches for a specific light or lights. It filters the lights and shows only those match the search. Click the X button on the right to clear the search. |
| Expand/Collapse all – Expands or collapses lights that are in a hierarchy (parents and children). |
| Hide light indicators – Toggles on and off the visibility of all lights gizmos in the scene at once. Shortcut: G |
| Filter by scene – Filters the lights list by scene when multiple scenes are imported. |
| Lock – Disables the lights transformation options - position, rotation and scale. The options become greyed out. Click |
| Hide – Toggles visibility of individual lights on and off. Lights with disabled visibility are not rendered. The eye button is visible on hover of the light. Invisible elements are indicated by the strikethrough eye, which is always visible and doesn't need a hover. When a parent element is invisible in a hierarchy, the child light is indicated by a dot and also inherits the invisibility. |
| Group/ungroup nodes – Right-click menu options that group and ungroup lights. The folder icon is an indicator for grouped lights. See the Menu Options section for more details. |
Drag-and-drop – Places lights in hierarchy. Drag lights onto other lights to create a parent-child relationship. | |
Menu Options
A menu is available when you right-click on a light in any filter tab. The menu contains the following options:
Duplicate – Duplicates the selected light. Shortcut: Ctrl+D
Delete – Deletes the selected light. Shortcut: Del
Rename – Renames the selected light.
Group nodes – Creates a group and adds the selected node(s) to the group.
Ungroup nodes – Ungroups the selected light(s).
Show/Hide – Toggles on and off the visibility of the selected light. Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+H
Lock/Unlock – Locks or unlocks the transformation options in the Details tab of the selected light. Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+L
