Enscape 4.4.0

Release Notes 26.02.2025

New

  • Emissive Materials as Ray-Traced Light Sources: Emissive materials now behave as true light sources when hardware ray tracing is enabled. This ensures more predictable lighting, reduces noise artifacts, and removes the need for inefficient modeling workarounds (e.g., manually placing thousands of light sources).

    • Cleaner, more consistent lighting behavior across all emissive materials.

    • Enhanced filtering and sampling methods minimize noise and ensure efficiency in both small and large-scale projects.

    • Matches the behavior of analytical and mesh lights for greater realism.

Please Note: This feature requires hardware ray tracing.

  • V-Ray Scene Export - Export Site Context Geometry: Now when exporting a V-Ray scene, the site context included in the scene will be exported as well.
  • [Enscape Impact] Expanded Building Type Support: Enscape Impact now supports additional building types, including Hospitality, Industrial, Retail, Sports, Transportation, and Warehouse. This expansion allows users to perform more relevant energy and comfort analyses tailored to their specific project needs.

  • Announcement - Phased Removal of Old Host Versions: Starting in 2025, we will remove unsupported host application versions from our installer three months after their official end-of-support announcement. While we’ve historically included older releases (for example, the latest Enscape version can still be installed for Revit 2015 - 2021, even though these versions are no longer officially supported), we’ve found that continuing to bundle out-of-date versions creates additional complexity for both developers and customer support teams. Since these older releases are no longer supported by their original publishers, phasing them out from our latest installers helps us focus on providing the best possible experience for current versions.

Each time we officially support a new host application release, we’ll clearly communicate which older versions will be removed, and when, through our Forum and Release Notes. We understand change could be inconvenient, but this policy ensures better code quality, a streamlined installer, and improved support for you. Stay tuned for more details!

Fixed Bugs

  • Impact - Missing Imperial Equivalents: Resolved an issue where Total Carbon Emission and Energy Use Intensity metrics did not display imperial units.
  • Impact - wrong project orientation: Resolved an issue with not passing the project orientation for the simulation calculation.
  • Enscape Impact: Default Build Year drop-down list is located in 1900: Now default selector is set to last decade.
  • Artistic Modes - Crash with Alpha Mask: Fixed a crash during screenshot export when using Watercolor, Orthographic, and Apply Alpha Channel.
  • NewForma Konekt - Annotation Without Value Throws Exception: Fixed an issue where creating an annotation without setting a custom attribute value caused an exception in Newforma Konekt.
  • Renderer Toolbar Responsiveness: All Renderer toolbar commands are accessible, either using a toolbar button, or a menu command depending on the width of the window.
  • Manual adjustments to lights in SketchUp lead to unexpected values: The value is applied as provided by the user. Any light will show such a behavior, being length, beam angle, width, light source radius etc.

  • [Revit] Enscape Renderer Crashes After Setting Up Custom Asset Directories: Renderer now starts without issues.

  • [Rhino 8] No selected view on Enscape start: When user selects a view in Rhino8 and opens Enscape, the selected view is the same.

  • [Rhino 8] With View Sync enabled, selecting a view from the CAD should select the same view in Enscape View Management

  • The geometries lose their materials after batch rendering: After the batch rendering process all elements, geometries, and assets are now visible with their details and attributes.

  • V-Ray scenes cannot be exported: Now V-ray scenes are exported.
  • Adjustable assets that have different meshes are displayed twice when selected and can cause Enscape to crash
  • Enscape Help Center links lead to General Chaos Help: Now Enscape opens Enscape Feedback window
  • Foliage material Transparency section is disabled: The Foliage material Transparency section is enabled and if you assign an alfa-texture for Albeto and confirm the pop-up message it is expected the same texture to be added as Transcapency as well.
  • CPU usage spikes to 100% when tweaking sound sliders: The computation is now done only once when the mouse stops moving.
  • After reverting a material type to generic from emissive, there is still some residual light left.

Known Issues

  • Enscape Impact Fails When Project Is Too Large: Enscape Impact cannot analyse the project geometry when project is more than 92M m3
