This page provides information about the supported .vrscene features exported from Corona for Cinema 4D.

Legend

(tick) – the feature is supported

partial – only some features are supported

(minus) – the feature is exported in a vrscene but is currently not supported in Vantage

(error) – the feature is not supported in Vantage and currently also not exported into a vrscene

base color(tick)
roughness(tick)
IOR(tick)
edge color(tick)
bumppartial

Normal maps and/or shaders work as expected when using a simple setup (Bitmap > Corona Normal > Material bump slot), however they may not work correctly in more complex scenarios (e.g. mixing two Corona Normal maps and connecting the mix with the material bump slot).

anisotropy(minus)

translucency(error)

refraction(tick)
dispersion(minus)

thin absorptionpartial

Only constant absorption is supported. Textures/shaders are not supported.

opacitypartial

Only Forced Clip mode is supported. The texture can only have fully opaque or fully transparent areas.

displacementpartial

Vantage always applies smoothing to geometry edges, similar to using mesh tessellation or subdivision.

Only single vector displacement or per-face normal displacement is exported.

In case of per-face displacement, only the lowest water level is exported.

clearcoatpartial

Clear coat bump is not supported.

sheen(minus)

volumetric absorptionpartial

Only constant absorption is supported. Textures/shaders are not supported.

volumetric scattering(error)

self-illumination(tick)

background overrides(minus)

Other Materials

NameSupportNotes
Corona Layered(tick)

Corona Ray Switcher(tick)Empty channels require the "Rendering of opacity maps" option enabled in Vantage. This option is enabled automatically when using the "Open scene in Vantage..." option. However, if the scene is exported to the .vrscene format and loaded or merged into Vantage, you need to enable it manually. You can find this option in Vantage under Render Settings > Advanced > Materials > Opacity maps (clip mode) or Open Render Settings button > Enable rendering of opacity maps.

Bump

NameSupportNotes
Standard bumppartial
Normal map/shaderpartial

Normal maps and/or shaders work as expected when using a simple setup (Bitmap > Corona Normal > Material bump slot), however they may not work correctly in more complex scenarios (e.g. mixing two Corona Normal maps and connecting the mix with the material bump slot).

Displacement

NameSupportNotes
Normal displacementpartial

Vantage always applies smoothing to geometry edges, similar to using mesh tessellation or subdivision.

Vector displacement(minus)
Per-face normal(tick)
Per-face vector/mixed(error)

Only single vector displacement or per-face normal displacement is exported.

Water level(minus)

In case of per-face displacement, only the lowest water level is exported.

Geometry

NameSupportNotes
Triangle meshes(tick)
Hair(error)
Corona Proxy(tick)

Corona Proxy is currently exported as a regular mesh.

Corona Decalpartial

Requires Vantage 2.4.0 or newer.

Dimensions(tick)
Bendpartial

Only Bend Width is supported.

Corona Decal
Max Angle Blur
partial

There may be minor differences between the appearance of a Decal in Corona and Vantage. Specifically, the center of the Decal can be partly transparent in Corona, but it is always opaque in Vantage.

Bumppartial

Decal bump always replaces or adds to the base; the "Base only" mode is exported as "Add to base".

Displacement(error)

Displacement is always taken from the base object.

Affect Material(error)
Include/Exclude(tick)
Corona Pattern modifier(error)
Chaos Scatter(tick)

Currently scattered instanced export as individual instances. Future optimizations are planned.

VolumeGrid(error)

Lights

NameSupportNotes
Corona light (sphere, rectangle, disk)partial

Some advanced features like "prevent black appearance" do not work.

Corona light - other shapespartial

Converted as emissive mesh. It works in Vantage but is not listed in the Lights tab.

Corona light materialpartial
Non-physical lights (spot, point, etc.)(error)

Camera

NameSupportNotes
Basic perspective and orthogonal(tick)
Spherical, Cylindrical, Fisheye etc(error)

Near/far clipping(tick)
Multiple camera export(error)

Only the active camera is exported.

Environment

NameSupportNotes
Constant color environment(tick)
Textured environmentpartial

Only bitmaps, optionally with basic color correction, are supported. The current version loads with incorrect rotation in Vantage.

Volume effect(error)
Multiple environments(error)
Corona Sun(tick)
