Table of Contents

This page offers information about the Scene States tab in Chaos Vantage.

Overview

The Scene State System enables variations within Chaos Vantage. The system works with three components: scene sub-state rollouts in Chaos Vantage tabs, a Scene states dropdown option available for all camera thumbnails, and the right-hand panel's Scene states tab.

The Scene states tab enables the creation of combinations of existing sub-states into scene states. The Scene states can be globally toggled in real-time to create variations, linked to cameras using the Scene State(Vantage_Camera_SceneState) tag in the camera widget, so when a camera is recalled a specific scene state is toggled, and specified in the Render setup dialog when rendering HQ images or sequences.

There is a special ORIGINAL SCENE sub-state and a scene state. It represents the settings that come from the loaded scene. It cannot be updated or deleted. Toggling to this scene state switches to the initial version of the scene before any objects' transformations, visibility, material assignment, environment lighting, etc.

There is a special SAVED SCENE sub-state and a scene state. It is automatically generated when the 'Save Scene' or 'Save Scene As...' actions in the File menu are used. It cannot be updated or deleted manually. Toggling to this scene state switches to the last saved version of the scene.

There is a special NONE sub-state that does not affect the settings in the relevant tab when toggling. For example, you can have several scene states affecting only the light sub-states but not changing any other aspect of the scene. Toggling those scene states does not affect objects' transformations, visibility, material assignment, etc.
