Table of Contents

This page provides a list of the available Materials nodes.

Overview

V-Ray for Blender offers several different materials. These materials are quite versatile, and each can be used in a number of ways to achieve different looks as needed, from simulating simple surface properties like plastics and metals to complex uses such as translucent objects, subsurface materials such as skin, and even light-emitting objects.

The materials nodes are only available in the Shader Node Tree. To see how to switch between Node Trees, go to the V-Ray Node Editor page.

Cycles Shader Nodes Compatibility

Not all Cycles shader nodes are convertible. See the list of supported Cycles Shader Nodes

  • You can convert the current Cycles Shader nodes to V-Ray nodes using the Convert to V-Ray Material button in the V-Ray Node Editor toolbar. This converts only the current shader, you need to select each one individually to convert it.

  • You can convert all Cycles shader nodes in the scene using the Convert Materials tool.

  • If you want to start over, click on the Use V-Ray Material Nodes button to create a new default V-Ray Mtl and start over with your shader creation.
