This page gives information about the Unclamped Color Render Element.

The Unclamped Color Render Element is a color image that shows the original colors that were clamped. This render element is useful in the compositing process for enhancing extreme colors (very bright or very dark) or for shading the final image with the unclamped colors.

This render element is enabled through the Render Elements tab of the Render Setup window in 3ds Max and displays its parameters in a rollout at the bottom of the window:

VRayVFB – When enabled, the render element appears in the V-Ray Virtual Frame Buffer.

Deep output – Specifies whether to include this render element in deep images.

Multiplier – Sets the overall intensity of the render element, where 1.0 is the standard multiplier.

Denoise – Specifies whether to denoise this render element.

Add background – When enabled, adds the background to the render element.

The Unclamped Color Render Element is useful for revealing the true values of clamped colors and editing their look in a compositing or editing software. See the render before and after compositing.
