Example: Radius
This parameter determines the amount of area (in units) where the V-Ray Dirt effect is produced. The Dirt color has been tinted red to clarify the effect. The scene used for these examples is a small paper 1/100th scale-model of the architecture.
Simple V-Ray Material - no Dirt effect
Radius: 1 cm
Radius: 4 cm
Example: Distribution
The Distribution parameter forces the rays to gather closer. The effect is that the dirt area is being narrowed closer to the contact edges.
Rays distribution (X,Y,Z) axis
Equal angle between rays distribution
Distribution parameter = 0.0
Rays distribution (X,Y,Z) axis
Different angle between rays distribution
Distribution parameter > 0.0
Distribution: 1.0
Distribution: 3.0
Distribution: 10.0
Example: Falloff
Falloff: 0.0
Falloff: 3.0
Falloff: 5.0
Example: Ignore in GI Calculation
This parameter determines whether the dirt effect is visible during the GI calculation.

Example: Consider Same Object Only
This example shows the effect of the Consider Same Object Only parameter.

Example: Ignore Bump
When enabled, this option excludes bump effects from the V-Ray Dirt computations.

enabled
Example: Thin Mode
Enhances the look of thin surfaces by casting less dirt on them. Available only for Inner Occlusion mode.

enabled
Example: Streaks Blur
For this example, Streaks Blur is enabled and higher values increase the blur effect.
Blur = 0
Blur = 0.5
Blur = 1
Example: Streaks Density
For this example, Density controls the density of the streaks.
Density = 0.3
Density = 0.5
Density = 1
Example: Streaks Size
The Ambient Streaks parameter is enabled and the Mode is set to Ambient Оcclusion. The Streaks Size controls the thickness of all streaks:
Streaks Size = 1
Streaks Size = 2
Streaks Size = 5
Notes
- Some V-Ray Dirt parameters are not supported with V-Ray GPU.
