This page provides information about the Render in Project component in V-Ray for Grasshopper.
Overview
V-Ray Render in Project adds the input scene geometry to the active Rhino scene. Materials applied to the objects are included. Note that geometries with no input materials will not be rendered.
This component automatically updates only changes coming from the V-Ray Geometry or Light rig components.
When opening a .gh file with existing Render in Project component, it is always disabled.
Input Parameters
Scene (Generic Data) – V-Ray scene input expected in this slot. Only objects and their materials are included.
Additional Commands
Export Camera Animation & Export Sun Animation – Exporting Camera or Sun animation from Grasshopper directly to the Rhino project can be done via the Render in Project component. The commands are available by right-clicking on the component name/icon. The animation exported from Grasshopper to Rhino will not be preserved in the Rhino project (.3dm) file. It will be available during the active session but if closed and reopened, the animation will need to be reimported from the Grasshopper (.gh) file via the V-Ray Render in Project component. Note that only one external animation can be hosted in the Rhino project this way. This means Camera and Sun animations cannot be exported to Rhino simultaneously.
Render in Rhino – Using this command triggers the V-Ray render process in Rhino.
Render Animation in Rhino – Executes a render in Rhino for every frame of the current Grasshopper animation. The definition objects in their corresponding state are rendered too. Note that it uses Rhino render settings, environment, and Sun light.
Notes
- The Render in Project component exports all lights attached to light rigs, except the light rigs themselves.
- The Render in Project component does not export object animation to the Rhino project.
- The native Grasshopper Custom Preview component is recognized by V-Ray if its "Render" toggle is enabled.
- The Animation Source parameter in ||Asset Editor|| > Settings > Animation section allows you to switch between animations recorded using the Rhino Animation tools and Sun or Camera Animation imported from Grasshopper via the V-Ray Render in Project component.
If there is a Rhino animation, it is exported and rendered together with the Grasshopper animation, no matter the frame number. When the Animation toggle is turned off in NeUI, the Rhino animation is not taken into account.
Render in Project uses Rhino's viewport as RenderView, therefore, if when manipulated between frames, it affects the render output!
