This page provides information about the Matte Shadow Render Channel in V-Ray for Blender.

Overview

The Matte Shadow Render Channel shows areas where light doesn't reach. Compare this with the Raw Shadow render channel, which stores areas of cast shadows. While technically not part of the Beauty render channels, the Matte Shadow Render Channel can be used to lighten cast shadows by adding it to the Raw Total Light render channel. It can also be used to assist in adding 3D channels to a background image or footage in the composite.
