This page provides information about the UVW Place 2D node texture in V-Ray for Cinema 4D.
Overview
The UVW Place 2D node is a Context node that adjusts the placement, rotation and repetition of 2D material generator nodes. In the example, we have attached it as a Context node to a Bitmap node. The UVW Place 2D node is equivalent to the place2dTexture node in Autodesk Maya. It allows for V-Ray Scene objects, created in V-Ray for Maya, to be seamlessly imported into V-Ray for Cinema 4D as native objects.
Placement
Coverage U/V – Determines what part of the surface is covered by the texture, where 1 corresponds to the entire surface. Increase this number above 1 to repeat the texture on the surface, reduce the value below 1 to reduce the amount of surface the texture covers.
Translate U/V – Determines the position of the texture, relative to the UV origins of the surface
Rotate Frame – Determines the angle to which the texture frame rotates.
Mirror U/V – Determines whether to mirror texture tiles in the U and V axis, when the texture is repeated more than once on the surface.
Wrap U/V – Determines whether the texture 'wraps around' the U and V surface or just cuts off.
Clamp U/V – When enabled, the output is clamped to 1 from above (usually clamped to 0 from below).
Stagger – Determines whether rows of texture tiles are placed beside each other. When Stagger is turned on, then every other row of texture tiles is offset by one-half its width, like rows of bricks in a brick wall.
Repeat U/V – Determines how many times the texture file is repeated in the U and V axis.
Offset U/V – Determines the position of the texture tiles, in relation to the texture frame. If this value is set to 0.5, the starting point of the texture will be the midway point of the texture frame.
Rotate UV – Determines how much the texture rotates within the texture frame.
Noise U/V – Turns the attached texture file into a noise texture. Use the U and V values to control the frequency of the noise.
Context
Context – Allows the attachment of another Context node (UVW generator) to generate a UVW texture, which the UVW Place 2D modifies . If no Context node is connected, or the connected Context node does not generate a UVW map, the UVW Place 2D uses the default UVW generator. For more information, visit the Context Nodes page.
