This page provides a quick starting point on how to import vrscenes in Chaos Envision.

Overview

There are two ways to import files in Envision:

  • linking
  • embedding

Both methods support .vrscene and .vrmesh files only.

Link Files

Linking or referencing an external file keeps the content connected to the original source file. This setup allows you to reload any changes by updating the linked file or reloading the Envision project. Keep in mind that the original file should not be deleted.

You can link .vrscene and .vrmesh files only.

To link an external file:

  • Click File menu > Import > Link

Embed Files

When embedding, all objects from the external file are imported directly into your scene. Once the import is complete, you can delete the original file without affecting the scene. The imported objects are organized into a dedicated folder located in the Objects tab on the left-hand side of the interface.

You can embed .vrscene and .vrmesh files only.

To embed an external file:

  • Select a linked scene file.
  • Click the Embed scene () button. This opens a warning dialog informing you that the action cannot be reverted.
  • Click Embed.
