This page gives details on the Chaos Licensing for Chaos products.

Overview

Chaos products are sold under a named or a floating license.

Named licenses allow dedicated access to individual users, while floating licenses can be shared among a team of users.

Named Licenses

Named licenses allow users to have dedicated access to their software from any device where they log in with their Chaos account.

A named-user license is dedicated to one specific person, giving them access to the software on any machine. One license can only be used on one device at a time.

To use your named license:

  1. Perform a default product installation.
  2. Start using your product and you will be prompted to log in with your Chaos account.
  3. When you successfully log in, you can use your license.

For more details, see the Named Licenses page.

Floating Licenses

Floating licenses can be shared among multiple users on a first-come, first-served basis and don’t need to be assigned to an individual user.

Floating licenses are ideal for creating a pool of licenses that can be used by multiple users, who do not need to have dedicated access to our products.

For example, a pool of 10 floating licenses can be shared between 20 (or any number of users). Any of the users can access the software at any time, as long as there is an available license in the pool. The only limit is the concurrent usage of licenses, in this case only 10 users can use the software at the same time. Named licenses require the number of licenses to match the number of users (e.g. 20).

How do I login to use my Chaos license?

You can use your Chaos account to log in and access your Chaos product. The Chaos product will prompt you to log in as needed.

Our products require a valid license, associated with a Chaos account. When you create a Chaos account you can use it with all of our products. Your existing Enscape, V-Ray, Anima or Veras logins are all Chaos accounts and work for all our products.

If you are an individual customer and you have made the purchase with us yourself - the license is already associated with your account. You can start using it as soon as you login.

If you are part of a team, then your Chaos Organization administrator needs to invite you to the organization and provide you with access to our products.

For more information on managing your licenses in the my.chaos portal, read the articles in this section of our online documentation.
