This page provides information on setting up your Phoenix License(s).

Activate the License

The Chaos License Server is the bridge between the Chaos Product and the Chaos Account associated with a given license. You cannot use any Chaos product without a license.

Depending on your license subscription, the Chaos License Server can run locally on your machine or remotely on a machine you have access to. If you are hosting a Premium Chaos License Server for multiple machines, please see the Administrator Workflow.

Please follow the instructions for your subscription plan

Solo User

The Solo License requires the server to be installed directly on your machine. The Solo License can only be used by a single user with a user login.

  • Download PhoenixFD. Open the installation wizard and follow through with a basic installation setup. For more information on the specifics of the installation, go to the Setup and Installation page.

  • After the installation is complete, you will be redirected to the Chaos License Server's Interface. If you are not signed into a Chaos account, go to the Online licensing dropdown menu and select Sign in.

  • You are then prompted to enter your username/email and password.
  • Once the activation is successful, you will be able to see the list of your available licenses on the Chaos License Server home page.

If you accidentally close the window, you can type 127.0.0.1:30304 / localhost:30304 in a web browser. Keep in mind that you cannot use any Chaos products without an active license!

Premium User

The Premium License can be shared between multiple users and devices. One machine serves as an administrator and allows others to join. If you are setting up a machine to administer a Chaos License, please see the Administrator Workflow page.

  • The administrator needs to give you their machine's IP address. This serves as your connection point to the Chaos License.
  • When installing Phoenix, at the Licensing step, select Remote. In the Primary License Server field, type the server IP address that your license administrator gave you. At the end, add the :30304 port.

  • Continue to finish the installation. As long as your license administrator's license is active, you can use the remotely shared license.

Borrow Licenses for Offline Use

You can also 'borrow' a license to use offline on a machine with unstable or with no internet access. For more information, see the Borrowing Licenses for Offline Use page.
