This article explains how to prepare your scene for Chaos Arena.

Overview

Follow the steps below to prepare your content scene for Chaos Arena.

Scene Preparation

Make sure the scene has a correct physical scale.

Set up the tracked camera.

  1. Add a new Physical camera. The location of the camera in the scene doesn't matter.
  2. Set the Focal length and Film gate to match the actual camera used on set.
  3. Set a reasonable Focus distance, for example, 2 meters.
  4. Adjust the exposure of the camera according to the scene.

Set up the projection, depending on the desired workflow:

  1. Add stage position nodes if you use a Stage Geometry scene in the configuration.
  2. Alternatively, directly import the stage geometry into the scene and position it as desired.

Set the render resolution to match the camera's aspect ratio. A high enough resolution is also helpful for the operator instances, as Arena clamps the render resolution to the camera resolution in the scene by default.

Repath all assets to a shared network drive if needed.

Export a .vrscene file.

  1. Ensure the primary render camera is the tracked camera in the exported scene.
  2. Make sure to enable animation export if there are animations in the scene.
  3. Use the Archive option in the .vrscene export settings if desired. It packs the scene and all assets and makes it portable. Useful if local assets are not stored in a shared location. In this case, re-pathing the assets is unnecessary; all paths are converted to relative.
