This page provides information regarding the latest release of V-Ray for SketchUp. 


V-Ray 6 Update 2 includes numerous enhancements to improve user experience and streamline workflows. V-Ray now provides access to an improved Scatter tool, .vrscene imports from various applications, and faster job submissions to Chaos Cloud.

Improvements & bugfixes

  • The V-Ray scene (.vrscene) export no longer requires a license
  • An issue, leading to errors when a Component containing a V-Ray modifier is created while the Scatter preview is enabled, is resolved
  • An issue, leading to errors when a SketchUp Tag is renamed or when toggling its visibility while the Scatter preview is enabled, is resolved
  • An issue, preventing the Proxy Mesh from replacing the original object on Proxy export in specific situations, is resolved
  • An issue, leading to errors when Light Gen is started before V-Ray is activated, is resolved
  • An issue, preventing the material application to a SketchUp Tag (Layer), is resolved
  • SketchUp no longer crashes on exit after saving a component containing a V-Ray modifier
  • An issue, leading to errors when deleting a Scatter while interactive rendering is running, is resolved
  • An issue, leading to errors when loading .vropt files, is resolved
  • An issue, causing SketchUp crash upon scene activation with specific projects, is resolved
  • An issue, causing a crash when attempting to render or edit specific materials, is resolved
  • Fixed a crash caused by the viewport preview of the Camera Clipping Plane
  • An issue, causing a crash when modifying Cosmos materials in specific ways, is resolved
  • V-Ray GPU: System Memory for Textures implemented. It lowers the GPU memory usage significantly by offloading textures to system memory with little impact on performance
  • V-Ray GPU: An issue, preventing Mesh lights rendering in animations, is resolved
  • V-Ray GPU: There is no longer a crash when starting a render, while the CUDA devices selection specified in the Asset Editor differs from the global one (defined by the GPU Device Selection tool and stored in the VRAY_GPU_PLATFORMS environment variable)
  • V-Ray GPU: An issue preventing the material Raytrace Properties from working correctly is resolved
  • A warning is logged instead of an error when the V-Ray UI loses connection to the host application
  • The proper function of the V-Ray UI is no longer prevented by specific system proxy configurations
